Why you CANNOT miss UFC Fight Night: Brunson VS Machida

UFC Fight Night: Brunson VS Machida

Saturday, 10/28/2017, 5:00 PM Mst

Aaaaaaand we’re back with a fun weekend of fights coming up that I cannot wait to dive into! This will mark the second of ELEVEN weekends in a row that we are being gifted with a UFC event and while there are many to come, I would like to focus for now on this upcoming Saturday, 10/28 where “The Dragon” Lyoto Machida is flying back into the UFC octagon for the first time in 924 days to take on fellow Middleweight, Derek Brunson.

However, before we get to the main event, let’s talk about a few other reasons that this card is not to be forgotten by even the casual fans of our beloved sport.

Niko “The Hybrid” Price VS Vicente “The Silent Assassin” Luque

This fight, which can be found on the tail end of the Preliminary card, is possibly being overshadowed by the main event, but has the ingredients to be one of the most titillating clashes of the night!

A powerful up and comer in Niko Price is coming off of a spectacular Performance of the Night winning, TKO victory over Alan Jouban back in August that proved he is more than just a brawler with a funny braided goatee. Price is undefeated in his professional Mixed Martial Arts career with 9 of his 10 wins coming by finish and one No Contest after a KO victory was overturned when he tested positive for traces of the Devil’s Lettuce…

Price has had the benefit of being admittedly underestimated by his opponents coming into his fights and was even the underdog in 2 of his 3 bouts within the UFC, proving time after time that he deserves more respect within the Welterweight division. This Cape Coral, Florida native has shown an ability to cover a lot of ground very quickly on the feet and even though he is boasting a WHOPPING 0% take down defense, handles himself well even when put on his back.

His slightly more seasoned opponent, Vicente “The Silent Assassin” Luque comes into this fight with a record of 11-6-1 losing his last fight by unanimous decision to Leon Edwards. Luque has not been finished in a fight since joing the UFC and has NEVER been knocked out in his professional career… But there’s a first time for everything

The Silent Assassin is also known to finish his fights as 10 of the 11 wins in his career have not gone to a decision. This veteran of The Ultimate Fighter: American Top Team vs The Blackzilians, will come into this skirmish with 5 submission wins under his big, brown, Brazilian belt and a 49% striking defense which could be just the combination he needs to be the victor here.

Both of these men are naturally exciting warriors and will always put on a show when locked inside the octagon. Niko Price has the chance to make a name for himself within the mainstream audience while Vicente Luque must not fall victim to the boyish, newcomer charm of Price and prove he is a legitimate contender at 170 lbs.

Prediction: Niko Price via Unanimous decision
